The famous Italian city of Venice, which is sinking today under the highest tidal wave since the 1960s, has a twin city in the low-lands: Bruges, Belgium. A medieval town in West-Flanders province famous for its breathtaking architecture, canals, laces, and chocolate. However, there is always one more thing that is dropped from that list: La Citta dell’Amore. I always start my walk in the city of Bruges by a diversion to the love lake (known in dutch as Minnewater) to stand on the real love memorial of this city. The old story of Minen and Stormberg that brought tourists from across the world to see how two lovers were sincere to each other in their own ways. How a story of love developed to be several people first step in town -including me- and one of the city’s most pictured destination on social media platforms.

The love lake does not hold the title La Citta dell’Amore alone. Love bridge is another pillar in Bruges for love. A bridge that turns a kiss between lovers into eternal love. Although eternal love is a scary idea, humanity was always fascinated by its concept for ages. ٍTherefore, you better be ready to see dozens of lovers on that bridge kissing each other. If you are visiting Bruges from Amsterdam, Bruges from Ghent, Bruges from Brussels, or from Bruges Airport and your land on the city train station or the bus stations, it is highly recommended to start by the love lake and the love bridge. In Case you are single, please find in the blog the post about the wish well of Bruges; thus, you can wish for a lover.
